Description

Objectives:
At the end of the session, participants will:
1. Understand the historical context of food as medicine across cultures and times.
2. Understand what food can and can’t do for your health.
3. Cite specific food examples and their health promoting properties.
4. Understand the relationship between diet and chronic disease.
5. Cite nutritional strategies for disease management.
6. Know how to practically integrate the principles of food as medicine into daily dietary choices.

Description:
Diet has been identified as the single most important risk factor for morbidity and mortality, yet most healthcare providers spend relatively few hours learning about nutrition during their formal training. The limited nutrition education that is offered in medical and health professional programs is often focused on the biochemistry of nutrients and health consequences of deficiency states. Unfortunately, that content is of limited use in most clinical settings where the majority of the population faces over-nutrition due to high intake of ultra-processed, calorie-dense, high saturated fat-laden foods. Patients and clients are coming to you with questions because they need someone they can trust to provide sound guidance for nutrition. Join  Dr. Idrees Mughal for this webinar, who will provide you with scientifically sound facts about food and nutrition that will improve your patients’ overall health, and help decrease chronic disease.

Who Should Attend?:
• All Nurses, Physicians, Physician Assistants in acute, primary and long-term care settings
• Dietitians, Nutritionists, Pharmacists, Exercise Physiologists. Lifestyle Medicine specialists
